PANAMA CITY: Around 1,500 ships and their crews are trapped in the Gulf due to the Iranian blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, the secretary general of the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO) said in Panama on Thursday.

  1. 1500 ships stuck is no joke. This is going to have massive ripple effects on global shipping rates and insurance premiums. Pakistan needs to diversify supply routes ASAP.

  2. The Strait of Hormuz situation is getting dangerous. Iran is playing a risky game and ordinary people will bear the cost through higher prices. Diplomacy needed urgently.
